There is nothing more fake, phony, and disingenuous than the “health freedom” movement. It’s also dangerous, and it has hurt many people already. Here are three examples of why.
“The centerpiece of the MAHA and health freedom agenda has been removal of mRNA shots.”
“160 physicians, scientists and activists” recently penned an open letter to Secretary Kennedy and President Trump. Regarding the Removal of the mRNA Platform. It said:
Dear Secretary Kennedy and President Trump,
As influential leaders within the MAHA and health freedom movements, we are writing to object to policies under your oversight related to the mRNA platform, and to call you to act on our policy goals.
While the centerpiece of the MAHA and health freedom agenda has been removal of mRNA shots, you have failed to take decisive action on this front despite overwhelming credible evidence to the harm of this technology. Instead, your policies related to mRNA technology are neutered and self-defeating, putting pregnant women and children at risk, misleading parents and eroding their rights, and failing to help those harmed by vaccines.
If you continue to ignore our central issue of removing the mRNA platform, the MAHA and
health freedom movements will withdraw their support of you, and you will face the political consequences.
Read that again- “the centerpiece of the MAHA and health freedom agenda has been removal of mRNA shots.” Several these 160 physicians, scientists and activists have graced the pages of SBM previously., and this letter reveals either their inability to see the contradiction of that sentiment or their indifference to it. Either way, the outcome is the same. When it comes to a vaccine with clear benefits, its your body, their choice.
At one level, the sheer absurdity of banning voluntary vaccines in the name “health freedom” is comical, and it’s always nice to see MAHA turn on itself. I’ll never get tired of seeing Kennedy become be woven into the conspiracies he promoted and attacked by the forces he enabled now that he’s the establishment.
However, such Orwellian abuses of language are never benign, and there’s a dark side to this.

The flip side of the “health freedom” movement trying to take away your vaccines, is that they feel entilted to do whatever they want to their children. Not only are unvaccinated people dying of measles again, Audrey Dutton recently published two wrenching ProPublica pieces on the tragic consequences of “health freedom”. According to her article Children in a Faith-Healing Sect Keep Dying. The State Lets It Happen:
At least 15 babies and children from the faith-healing sect died between 2015 and 2025 from illnesses that doctors could have successfully treated, the experts concluded.
The estimate of preventable deaths is almost certainly an undercount. The experts could not evaluate six more deaths because coroner records were incomplete or unavailable. In another four cases, they couldn’t say with confidence whether medical care would have changed the outcome.

Emma Joyce was sick and vomiting for days until she stopped breathing in her parents’ arms, in a small gray farmhouse in rural Idaho. It was August 2009, and she was 3 years old.
The following summer, Emma Joyce’s little sister got sick. Ava Joan wouldn’t eat or drink anything but a few grapes and some Sprite in a sippy cup. She was breathing hard and fast. And when she vomited, it came out black, the hallmark of internal bleeding. She died in her mother’s arms in July 2010 from a complication of untreated diabetes.
Less than two years later, the girls’ toddler brother died from the same complication of untreated diabetes that killed Ava Joan.
And nine years after that, another sibling died: a 4-year-old boy who’d suffered for weeks with similar symptoms.
It explained why:
An exemption in Idaho law shields faith-healing parents from criminal prosecution for conduct that otherwise would be charged as neglect. It also keeps police and social workers from stepping in to protect a dead child’s surviving siblings.
The “health freedom” movement didn’t believe in health freedom for these children. The notion that children are independent humans with their own rights is appalling to them. Even today, instead of trying to protect these children, Kennedy is droning on about “medical tyranny,” and how AI will save us from it.
“He Should Be In Jail!” Fauci Lied, People D**d. The Pandemic Scandal Continues To Deepen
Even before the pandemic, “health freedom” advocates didn’t hide their thirst for revenge and punishment. Over 10 years ago, Dr. David Gorski wrote an article titled The Violent Rhetoric of the Antivaccine Movement. This was followed up by The Violent Rhetoric of the Antivaccine Movement, Vaxxed Edition, The Violent Rhetoric of the Antivaccine Movement: ‘Vaccine Holocaust’ And Potential Impending Attacks on Journalists, and The Violent Rhetoric of the Antivaccine Movement Intensifies.
This had consequences. An article from 2019 about vaccine hero Dr. Richard Pan was titled Woman Arrested After Throwing Menstrual Blood on California Senators.
COVID supercharged all this. Today, they want to incarcerate, or even execute, scientists who tried to save lives in 2020. Even though Nazis were hung at Nuremberg, there’s an overwhelming about of such content such as Jimmy Dore & Bret Weinstein: Nuremberg Violations & How People Were Forced To Take COVID Vaccines. This isn’t just people blowing off steam. There are consequences to this rhetoric, and “health freedom” advocates can read the news as well as you and I. Fauci’s children needed security and Hotez was stalked at home. A man deluded by COVID conspiracies murdered a heroic Atlanta policeman and shot up the CDC. According to a recent article Public Health Leaders Report Widespread Harassment, Threats After COVID-19:
Of 109 leaders interviewed for the study, 76% were threatened or harassed, a category of backlash the researchers deemed “extraordinary.”
Among the experiences shared by public health leaders:
- The FBI’s arrest of a person making ongoing credible death threats. “That was the first time I felt scared because in his house he had over 100 guns…”
- A public health official described a persistent “scary,” “obsessed” male “stalker” who sent a picture of someone strangling a child the same age as her child.
- “The worst day was [when] I came home from work one day. … I came home and on my front door I found a note taped. And when I opened it up, it was a threat to kill my dog. And it had a picture of my dog in my backyard.”
Who in their right mind would work to contain a future pandemic knowing “health freedom” advocates will unleash this on them?
And thus it becomes clear, the “health freedom” movement is run by health authoritarians. They want to impose their anti-vaccine agenda on you, to threaten and intimidate scientists, and to let parents treat their children as disposable objects. This needs to be opposed, not appeased.
